Ionian University
Minas Pergantis is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University where he is conducting research on "Evaluation and Optimization of User Experience in Online Digital Art Repositories". He is also employed as an academic fellow at the Department of Tourism of the Ionian University, on the field of "Cultural Heritage and the Internet".
He holds a diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Patras. His thesis was entitled "Study of Cache Memory Management in a Real Environment" and focused on the use of data structures and prediction algorithms to improve the performance of cache memory. Continuing his academic career, he joined the Interactive Arts Laboratory of the Ionian University and received his PhD degree from the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, completing a PhD thesis entitled "Art search online: analysis of user behaviour and search technologies". The aim of his doctoral research was a data-driven study and analysis of user behaviour when searching online for art and culture-related content.
As an academic researcher, he specializes in the areas of human-computer interaction and usability, web and semantic web data extraction, organization and analysis, search engines and SEO, and user behavior analysis based on qualitative and quantitative data, always with an emphasis on content relating to art and culture. In recent years, he has been actively involved in publishing articles in international journals and proceedings of international peer-reviewed conferences. Similarly, he has taken part in various research projects and programmes relating to the interdisciplinary field of studying and promoting art and culture through web technologies. In addition to his research activity, he is a professional software engineer with many years of experience in the private sector in the field of website, web application and smartphone application design and development.
